Woodland Faire FAQ
What is the Woodland Faire?
This is not your ordinary school event. It's a wondrous, immersive adventure through our very own woodland wonderland.
This is our school's only major FUNdraising event of the year. We go all out to make it truly unforgettable for everyone and worth every penny. We promise, your kids will say this is one of the best nights of the year!
When is the Woodland Faire?
The Woodland Faire is on November 11th from 4-8pm. From 4:00p to 5p we will do activities, play games and have dinner near the school's back porch and playground. The students will do a short performance at 5:30p as the sun sets and then the woods (Nature Lit) will glow and come alive at night for the most magical part of the event from 6:00p-8:00p.
How can I help?
This is a great event to volunteer at! We will announce volunteer opportunities in October so stay tuned!
Where do I buy t-shirts?
Click here to purchase. Online t-shirts sales end October 6th. Set yourself a reminder! We do not make extra shirts to purchase after the deadline.
Does my student need to purchase an admission wristband?
Yes, everyone needs an admission wristband for entry. You will receive your family's wristbands before the event for easy entry. Wristbands can also be purchased at the door for $20.
Where do I buy activity tickets and how many do I need?
Visit insideoustideschool.org/woodland faire for ticket info. Tickets can also be purchased using cash at the faire. It takes 35 tickets for one kid to do every activity once, but tickets can be used to purchase flashlights, concessions, items from Dawbee's Dresser, even beer or wine for the adults.
Will dinner be provided?
Our friends at Shawarma Point (owned by Faseeh, dad to Amal in the primary class) will be offering dinner via their food truck. You will be able to pre order online before the event and schedule a pickup time. They serve delicious Middle Eastern staples such as gyros, kebabs & falafels and kid friendly items like chicken tenders and fries. There will be options for *all dietary needs* from meat lovers to gluten free vegans. Dinner will be available from 4 - 5:30
Later in the evening, there will be light food concessions available for all like popcorn, snacks and drinks including beer and wine for the adults.
Who can come?
All of the IOS community is welcome. That includes siblings, parents, grandparents, IOS alumni, etc. Keep in mind that we have limited parking, so load everyone up in the minivan please!
Do you accept credit cards or digital payments at the faire?
The faire is cash only. Small bills appreciated!
Is it a rain or shine event?
Yes! Except in the case of extreme weather. Check the weather and be prepared.
Is the event ADA accessible?
No. The campus is located on a hilltop and there is a significant elevation change between the school and the woods. Getting back up the hill can be an issue for those with limited mobility.
What should I wear?
Costumes are encouraged. Think Ren Faire or Alice in Wonderland style of dress. You and your child can also wear your Woodland Faire t-shirt and accessorize with items available for purchase at the Faire. Closed toe shoes are required. If the campus is muddy from recent rain, plan on wearing rain boots or shoes that can get dirty. You will be walking up/down a hill and hanging out in the woods. Leave those heels at home!
What should I bring?
Bring weather appropriate clothing, a refillable water bottle, cash and maybe a bag to store any treasures collected along the way. Some also choose to bring camping chairs and picnic blankets for the 2nd half of the evening, when many of the adults hang out by the bonfire. There will be stumps/benches provided around the fire; if you need a different seat for comfort, please bring it.
Can I bring in outside food?
We would LOVE for everyone to support the Shawarma Point food truck, but if you have dietary restrictions or super picky eaters, then you may bring what you need.
Are my tickets refundable if something comes up?
All tickets are non-refundable.
Can I buy admission wristbands the day of the event?
Yes, for $20. We encourage everyone to buy presale tickets to help us budget and get a headcount for activities. Plus you'll save some cash by buying early.
Can I buy activity tickets the day of the event?
Yes. Activity tickets will be available for purchase through the entire event for $1 per ticket. Again, buy early to save.
What are activity tickets used for?
Activity tickets are your faire currency. They are used for ALL faire activities and purchases including crafts, character encounters, the petting zoo, dragon fighting, the quest, face painting, concessions, items from Dawbee’s Dresser, flashlights, even beer and wine for the adults! There will also be fun festival gear and glowy things available for purchase.
Will we be in the woods when it’s dark?
YES. This is part of the magic of the faire, but it will be very dark. There will be flashlights and glow things for sale to help keep the kids aglow. Feel free to bring your own flashlights and headlamps.
Is it a toddler/preschool age friendly event?
Absolutely. But please keep a very close eye on small children as we will be near a bonfire and the edge of the creek.
Does my current IOS student have to attend?
All students are HIGHLY encouraged to attend. Not only is it one of the best nights of their year, they will be doing a performance with their class as we enter the woods at sunset.
Where should I park?
More info on parking coming soon. Please carpool, or even better - get dropped off.
What is the money raised from the faire used for?
