"When looking for a school, I had high expectations. I found that the goals of The Inside Outside School matched my own goals for my children’s education better than any other school I investigated. My children are encouraged to set goals, be curious, take responsibility, play hard, plant gardens, solve problems, nurture relationships, use time wisely, develop well educated disciplined minds, laugh a lot, and smell the flowers, just to name a few. I feel that the teachers are people who truly care and know my children and understand their strengths and weaknesses.
I must say that it’s also nice that they can’t wait to go to school! " Tanya
"What differentiates Inside Outside School from other alternative schools in Austin is its unique blend of academics and play. Taking advantage of the beautiful, seven-acre campus, teachers facilitate traditional (and a few
not-so-traditional) subjects, allowing students to move at their own pace while at the same time encouraging them to set goals and stretch. Hands-on learning encourages cooperation and community, and instills in students the tools they'll need for a lifetime of education. We couldn't be more thrilled with our son's progress, and the fact that he actually wants to go to school every day: priceless." (Jennifer)
"My daughter started kindergarten this year and both my husband and I are thrilled with Inside Outside School. I feel like the teachers really know and understand my child and want to help her thrive. She is learning to read and write and do math all the while having an amazing time cooking, tending the animals, exploring the woods and learning about the seven dimensions of human greatness. It really is the whole package, a perfect balance and blend of teacher led and student directed learning. I particularly love how the school embraces the whole family in supporting each child. It really does take a village and I'm glad to call IOS my village." (Anna)
"We just started my daughter in the IOS upper elementary classroom this year and love it! She's thriving with the small student-teacher ratio and individualized learning. In addition to regular academics, she loves getting to choose electives she's interested in like theater and art. Lots of time in beautiful nature is great too! As parents, we enjoy being part of a great community." (Paula)
