Our Mission

The Inside Outside School’s mission is to support the self-actualization of each individual and their relationship to the world right here, right now through seven dimensions of human greatness: identity, inquiry, interaction, initiative, imagination, intuition, and integrity.

We believe that students are born as unique individuals, with special gifts and a purpose which can be nurtured and drawn forth, allowing them to grow as contributors to society.  Our job as educators is to mentor each student, giving them the encouragement and support needed to help them reach their full potential.
We believe that education is not one size fits all, and that our world's challenges require creative innovative thinkers.
We believe that human greatness is an unlimited potential that cannot be measured numerically.
We believe in creating consciousness around the words we speak, our choices, our responsibilities, and our relationships.
We believe that it is increasingly vital that we understand and reconnect to the natural world.  We believe in celebrating how all things are connected.
We believe that "self" comes from the development of the whole person through many experiences and connections.

Our Vision

Our vision is that the community of the Inside Outside School will explore, discover, investigate, represent, and discuss things both great and small, and how they fit together, with deep respect and stewardship for each other and for the environment.  We do this by:
  • Nurturing the unique identity, intelligence, and curiosity inherent in each individual, providing the opportunity for students to explore and develop their own interests, talents, gifts, and abilities as well as all of the fundamental learning tools
  • Fostering in-depth inquiry that allows us as individuals and as a community to make sense of the real world, seeing how everything connects and is useful right here, right now
  • Creating and maintaining a space that offers individuals the opportunity to have daily experiences in nature as a community, learning how to live in respectful harmony with our fellow human beings and with our environment
