The Democratic Experience

The Hive (the IOS democratic government)

The students of IOS meet as a full legislative body to make decisions regarding the school.  All students have a voice in this meeting if they choose. The Hive meets to discuss school issues and challenges. They will suggest solutions, develop action plans, and propose consequences as needed.  We work together to plan great special events and field trips.

Collaborative decision making
All students have active participation in the IOS community. They have the opportunity for experiential games and activities that require collaboration.  They can take an active role in making decisions for the community as a whole as well as their personal development.  They participate in small group and large group work that requires working together for a common goal.
