Animals are better than books about animals.
"In all animals, including domestic, farm, and wild, are entire curricula.  There are biology, sociology, genetics, economics, history, cultures, communication, language, hierarchies, governance, relationships sweeping story arcs, morality, even nutrition, just to name a few.  Animals are perfect microcosms.  They are life."

The animal friends at IOS

We have a beautiful donkey named Maybelline who protects our goats from all dangers.  She even rounded them up into a safe corner of the pasture to protect them from big trucks installing a septic system next door.  The goats go walking with us near the creek in the afternoons.
