2015 JOHN F. AHRNS AWARD FOR ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION

Picture
Rachel Brice, our Upper Elementary teacher and Farm Manager at IOS has won the 2015 John F. Ahrns Award for Environmental Education from Westcave Preserve and the Children in Nature Collaborative of Austin (CiNCA)! We are very proud of Rachel and all of the work she does to promote a love for our natural world for our students.

We are a nature based elementary school located on Gilleland Creek just north of Austin, Texas, offering children the opportunity to enjoy their childhood as they learn about the world and acquire the tools of learning that they will need to explore the world.
We are an intentionally small community-based, progressive private elementary school located just north of Austin ,TX. We are committed to an approach that supports how to think rather than what to think, authentic relevant coursework, appreciation for individuality, positive individual attention and empowerment through choice.
